Sustainability
Mindfully Made Clothing
When we started Namastetics our first goal was to be as transparent as possible and pave the way towards sustainable, mindfully made, clothing.
Knowing that we are not causing unnecessary harm makes our hearts feel full. Collectively we work to encourage people to see the importance behind ethical and mindful fashion, and to feel better about the footprints we leave behind for future generations.
We know there is a long way to go before we can truly leave no trace or be the model business, but our actions will continue to forge the path forward.
We have worked hard to build relationships with a likeminded production partner to achieve the certifications you see below, and we continue striving towards our goal of no virgin plastic from our supply chain from 2021, and use of 100% Certified Organic Cotton in all cotton based designs by end of 2020.
Fabric Certifications
The Global Recycled Standard
The GRS Certification authenticates the recycled content of our products (both finished and intermediate) and verifies responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The certification ensures accurate content claims, good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized.
At Namastetics we place a huge focus on making sure that we use recyclable fabric when available, that all working environments are pleasant, and everything we do as a company is environmentally responsible when it comes to production.
OCS 100 (The Organic Content Standard)
This certifies use of organic and ecological textiles made with organic fibres. The OCS 100 Certification relies on third-party verification to confirm whether a final product contains the accurate amount of a given organically grown material. OCS allows for transparent, consistent and comprehensive independent evaluation and verification of organic material content claims on products. OCS 100 covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of a product that contains at least 95 percent certified ‘organic’ materials.
This certification was incredibly important for us and one that Mark, our manufacturer, is really proud of. OCS 100 ensures that the quality of clothing is not only organic but will remain consistent, goes through third party testing for 100% accuracy, and keeps the standard high for fabric quality.
Tencel Fabrics Certification
We introduced Tencel fabrics into our designs in 2019, and are super excited to add more as we continue to expand! Tencel Fabric fibers are certified compostable, biodegradable, and can fully revert back to nature. The manufacturing of these bio-based fibers happens in a certified environmentally responsible production process, and Tencel fibers originate from renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. Mind Blown, we know!
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
OEKO-TEX certifies that any textiles that carry the STANDARD 100 label have been tested for harmful substances and that the article is harmless in human ecological terms. You can be confident that all components of an article, such as fabric, buttons, accessories, and every thread, is a part of the testing process to certify an item as Standard 100.
As a company we think that manufacturing clothing that holds this certification should be the status quo, and that causing no harm to human ecology should be a no brainer.
Clothing should last and move with you
Can we get an amen for wanting quality clothing that fits right and feels right?!
At Namastetics, we think that clothing should last for a long time. We want the only reason you buy more from us to be that you wish to have different colors and designs, not because the clothes didn't last. All of our fabrics, designs, and manufacturing choices are made with this standard in mind, and we continuously aim for that quality mark. We have what we like to call ‘Life-ware’, clothing that moves with you through life's moments.
We rigorously test all of our clothing through rigorous fit testing, personal use, stretch tests, and quality control markers. Our clothing was created out of a desire to have functionality and comfort in clothing that we wear 3-5 days a week. The conversations we have, the moments of breakthrough, the sweat, the grit and the accomplishment we have in our life-ware is why it needs to last, and feel good.
We encourage our community and customers to let us know when we miss the mark, or when something can be functionally better. Feedback is what helps us create better clothing, and experiences that raise us above the standard athletic company.
